1.     BACKGROUND

 Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum” is an international, non-commercial, non-partisan organization uniting leading umbrella youth organizations from the Member-States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as well as international youth organizations, operating in the OIC region and youth organizations representing significant Muslim minorities worldwide. This internship looks for providing a real insight into the work world allowing them to build on the theory they learned at university and helping them to obtain practical skills that will help strengthen their CVs and make them more qualified to open job vacancies. 

 

2.     OBJECTIVES:

 1.   Understand the structure and functioning of ICYF.

2.   Gain experience in political relations in international organizations.

3.   Expose the intern to jobs and professions.

4.   Reach cognitive development and improvement in business skills, communications, contribution to programs…etc.

5.   Build self-confidence in professional settings.

6.   Develop writing skills (letters, memos, concept notes…etc.)

 

3.     ICYF DEPARTMENTS


    I.      DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:

The international project department plays a dynamic role and function at ICYF. The department develops youth policy for Muslim Youth as mandated. The department plans and organizes ICYF activities and programs according to the OIC Youth Strategy and relevant youth policies. The department develops project concepts and oversees the implementation of programs in collaboration with other departments and external partners. These multi-faceted comprehensive projects/programs target to build youth capacities in diverse fields such as intellectual and leadership development, media, volunteering, environment, active participation, engagement, art, culture, academia, Islamic heritage, combatting islamophobia, social entrepreneurship, and mental health.…etc.

 

  II.      DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS: 

The Department of Foreign Affairs oversees bilateral and multilateral relations with the different Ministries, Embassies, OIC General Secretariat, International Institutions, and Youth organizations of Member states and the Non-Member States. The department is responsible for drafting diplomatic correspondences, Memorandum of understanding, Letters, Resolutions, and Talking Points for various meetings.

 

III.      YOUNG BUSINESS HUB COORDINATORSHIS:

 

Young Business Hub (YBH) is the comprehensive Youth Economic Empowerment initiative umbrella of ICYF among the whole economy-related programs. The YBH has been developed for overcoming substantial economic problems of the youth through its multi-level strategic approach that consists of several different layers. YBH established the International Incubation Center (IIC) which aims to produce quality and competitive entrepreneurs by using innovative global trends to adapt them to the digital age. The center shall create innovative solutions, distinguishing start-ups with two different programs as Pre-Incubation and Incubation.

 

 IV.      MODEL OIC COORDINATORSHIP:

The ICYF-initiated Model OIC is an academic simulation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which aims at educating participants about current trends in the theory and practice of international relations, effective communication, and multilateral diplomacy. MOIC Student Club Coordinatorship establishes student clubs at universities and contributes to the development of students by organizing High School MOIC, International MOIC Summit, etc. The Coordinatorship manages the process of developing the ICYF System and the content for the ICYF Academy and is also responsible for organizing the annual ICYF Diplomacy Academy.

 

4.     MODALITY

 

A.  Physical Attendance at ICYF Headquarters: Istanbul World Trade Center, A3 Block 7th floor, Yeşilköy/Istanbul

 

 **Note: If needed, interns may be requested to join online; depending on the internal procedures of ICYF. 

 

B.  Online: Only limited seats. 

 

5.     DURATION

 

The Semester starts on 26 Sep 2022 and ends on 24 March 2023. These dates can be modified.

 

6.     INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY 

Applicants shall meet the following criteria:

 

   I.      General Criteria

  • Age must be between 18-35.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program.
  • Must be from one of the OIC Member States or the Observer Member States.
  • Proficient Command (written and spoken) of any working language of the OIC languages; English is a must, and (Arabic / French) is a credit.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Based in Istanbul (for those who will join physical internship).
  • Gender balance will be taken into consideration


  II.      Specific Criteria 


 a.   DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:

  •  Skilled, expressive, and inspired for youth work 
  • Motivated to work with diverse cultures and excited to work in different teams
  • Experienced in youth-related projects (university club project or social responsibility project)
  • Excited about researching and exploring youth trends at the regional and national level
  • Passionate in drafting reports based on the program needs, deliverables, and implementations.


b.   DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:


  • Effective interpersonal skills; including diplomatic circumstances.
  • Able to undertake research and analytical tasks.
  • Able to achieve dedication by performing effectively in a multicultural environment.

 

c.   YOUNG BUSINESS HUB COORDINATORSHIS:


  • Has the knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem. 
  • Has the expertise to monitor our website by writing content for social media, adding the news, and keeping it updated.

 

d.  MODEL OIC COORDINATORSHIP:


  • Have experience in MOIC (Model OIC) and/or Model UN.
  • Fluency in any of these languages Arabic OR Russian OR French is an asset.

9.     CERTIFICATES

 

By the end of the semester, all interns are entitled to the Internship Certificate if they succeed to achieve full attendance and fulfill satisfactory performance evaluation results.
